Meeting the Hendra Team
Matt and the easyauto123 were blown away by the Giants, but they also used this opportunity in Queensland to make connections with their Hendra superstore counterparts.
“We joined Jack and the Hendra crew to see how they did things. A great opportunity to skill swap and connect with another superstore. We got to be part of their huddles and share some of our team’s insights and skills. It was an incredibly rewarding experience. We’ve already rolled out a lot of the things we’ve learnt.”
The Giants in Play
But the real highlight of their adventure was spending time with the Giants themselves. Witnessing the team tie up the minor premiership was a momentous occasion, and celebrating their first win was a pretty memorable way to spend an evening, reliving the excitement of a grand slam by Jordan McArdle, one of only a handful for the league this season. The second night, the easyauto123 got the chance to tour the field with the players, soaking in the atmosphere camaraderie.
“A defining moment for me would have to be getting the chance to sit down with Nathan Davidson, the general manager for the team. He explained something that really rang true for us in the car yard - baseball is a game of moments. You might have only one 9-second opportunity after 9 innings of play - with the chance to excel so thin on the ground you need to have real focus and drive to understand that singular moments like that can make the difference to an entire game.”
Lessons Learned
It was very easy to be inspired by the professionalism and dedication of the athletes. High-performance teams were what easyauto123 strives to build and the Giants provided the perfect example. Training five times as much as they played, with many players carrying international coaching credentials, the Giants embodied the epitome of excellence.
Among the Giants, the team learned well understood but valuable lessons in sportsmanship and resilience. Witnessing the team defend back-to-back titles with unwavering determination was a testament to their winning mentality.
